He also starred in two films, "Purple Rain", "Under the Cherry Moon", "Graffiti Bridge" and "3 Chains o' Gold."

Changed his stage name to O(+> in June 1993, but changed it back to Prince in May 2000. The name change was a protest of his contract with Sony, which he felt was oppresive. Since O(+> is not pronouncable, during that time he was also commonly known as "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince." His birth name is Prince Rogers Nelson.
