A New Zealand model, Samantha Powell won the Miss New Zealand Universe crown and represented her country at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant.
After a two-week stay in Vietnam and 11 chess matches each, Ashley and Samantha Powell of Kapuskasing returned to the Model Town earlier this month from the World Youth Chess Championships, both having achieved the goals they set out for themselves before heading overseas.
